My Secret to Smooth Skin

Everyone wants smooth skin. This is not a surprise to anyone. I’ve never met someone who didn’t want to know how to have beautiful skin. When your skin is smooth your face looks younger, healthier, and it has a natural glow. You start to notice how well your makeup can look once you have smooth skin. The trick is finding the right way to exfoliate. There are so many scrubs, peels, masks, and every other thing you can think of. I’ve really tried to find what works best for me. Everyone knows my love for Crude to wash my face, and I do love their detox mask, but I still need something that can go deeper. So before I go into my favorite product, let’s talk about what microdermabrasion really is. I could try to explain it, but I think I’ll leave it to the professionals. So here is how microdermabrasion is defined by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons:

“Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer.

This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, and stretch marks.

Microdermabrasion can:

  • Improve age spots and black heads.
  • Improve hyperpigmentation (patches of darkened skin).
  • Exfoliate your skin, resulting in a refreshed appearance.
  • Lessen the appearance of stretch marks.
  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Reduce or eliminate enlarged pores.
  • Treat acne and the scars left by acne.

Microdermabrasion helps to thicken your collagen, which results in a younger looking complexion. Collagen is a protein in your skin that’s abundant when you’re a child and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, resulting in looser, uneven skin.”

So why do it at home? For me it’s all about saving money and saving time. I don’t want to go into the doctor periodically just to have my face look healthy again. So what do I do? I searched high and low, and my dear friend Michelle helped me out. I found my savior. It’s called PMD.

With your PMD you can exfoliate every 6-7 days! So I have my ritual of every Wednesday night I use my PMD. Why Wednesday night? I don’t know honestly. Maybe it has to do with the face that I need something to help me get through the week and so having a fresh face helps.

The process is so easy! You wash your face, you use the PMD, then you tone then moisturize. Seriously, that’s all you do! In all honesty it did take me a few times to really get the hang of how to glide it over my skin, but once I got it, I knew there was no turning back. I live in Utah and we have super dry winters, and even with my oily skin I get these dry patchy areas that I just have to exfoliate. Be warned you might be shocked when you see all of the skin that comes off. It’s great because when you first buy it, you get a set of different disks. They are meant for different areas of the body and different sensitivities. You can also order a bag to keep all of your items together.

Make sure you sign up for their discounts because who doesn’t love a good sale?!
