If you thought that diet and exercise were the only ways to slim down, you were mistaken. While makeup may not actually drop the pounds for you, it can be an incredible tool for creating the illusion of slimness. If you try out these makeup tricks to make your face look thinner, you might even forget about those last five pounds!
Makeup Tricks To Make Your Face Look Thinner
Contour and highlight
Figuring out how to use contouring and highlighting techniques will change how you do makeup forever. By highlighting your cheekbones and the length of your nose and contouring your jaw and chin, you can slim down your face almost instantly. Image via Sephora.
Get the right haircut
Okay, this isn’t a makeup tip, but this is such an easy way to slim down your face. If you’ve got bangs, make sure they start shorter in the middle and taper off to the ends. If you’ve got long hair, make sure you add layers that help shape your face. And, if you style your hair down, part your hair on the side, rather than the middle.
Use eyeliner to create a cat eye
The goal is to make your eyes the focal point of your face. Making your eyes look bigger with mascara and eyeliner can slim down your face. Image via Become Gorgeous.
Spend time on your eyebrows
Well-shaped eyebrows can make a big difference in the appearance of your face. Make sure that yours are not too thick, but still defined, and arched in the middle. You can use a brow pencil to fill them in just the way you like. Image via The Glow.
Blush should be applied carefully
Too much bright blush can weigh your face down and look immature. Instead, try to use a bronze color and lightly sweep it under the cheekbone.
Emphasize your jaw bone
Using bronzer along the edge of your jaw will help slim your chin. Just make sure you use a tone just barely darker than your skin, and blend it in well. Image via Women’s Day.
Downplay your lips
Though lips can be a great focal point, they can also emphasize the roundness of your face. So if you’re going for a slimmer look, use a lighter color like pink on your lips, rather than a deep, dark red.
