I’ve never been a big fan of the gym. I’m extremely insecure while I’m there, but I recognize the importance of going. I know a lot of girls always joke about buying “cute new workout clothes” to feel inspired to go to the gym. I completely understand that line of thinking, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized the importance of the quality of the gear. So here is a list of some of my favorite athletic brands, and why I like their product.
Maybe my love for this brand stemmed from working for the parent company in the beginning, but it was so easy to fall in love with their products. I love how their yoga pants (the chaturanga capri is my favorite!!) fit my body, don’t stretch out, and are extremely durable. Their sports bras are comfortable and functional. They even have cute swimsuits or casual wear to throw on after a good workout. They are a bit pricy compared to other brands, but are typically less expensive than Lululemon. They also take the time to put the latest fabric upgrades in their products. This has helped my tanks stay fresh smelling, and not like the gym after just one wear. It helps the parkas stay extremely warm while also being environmentally friendly. ***Athleta also has a young girl section, so you can dress your daughter/niece/any other young girl you’re close with in the latest workout gear as well***
I obviously can’t talk about workout clothing without mentioning lulu. They are an obvious leader in the industry for many reasons. Their products are well made, it’s easy to fall in love with the design, and they carry men’s wear! That’s not always easy to find when you start to get into these high end stores, they usually focus one one gender. There’s nothing really bad to say about this company. My biggest hesitation is the price. I’m not above paying for quality, but at some point I feel like I can’t justify it for workout clothing. I do have clothing from this company and I love everything I have, I just don’t run to this store first because of the price.
I’ve been obsessed with having abs like Kate Hudson ever since I first saw them in a magazine feature she did. So of course I was intrigued when I head she was cofounding an athletic wear brand. While the quality isn’t as high as Lulu or Athleta, the price is a lot less and they are still a decent buy. The company started off only online, but their retail stores are popping up more and more, so go check them out in person if you can!
Don’t be surprised if you haven’t heard of this company. They are a completely local company to me (so Salt Lake City, Utah) but they are online. Their stuff may be pricy, but I 1000% believe it’s worth it. Everything is designed by a woman, for women. Having worked in fashion for years, you have no idea how amazing that really is. So often things are designed for only looks, but might not be fully functional for what you are wanting. They are a company really working on being as green as possible. Living in Utah, there is a big focus on the outdoors. Albion (named after the Albion Basin, look it up you won’t regret it) wants to do everything they can to reduce their impact on the environment. They also have some of the cutest swimsuits I have ever seen. Go ahead and try them, they guarantee absolute satisfaction with their products.
